Dr. Fraser Golding is a pediatric and fetal cardiologist from Rady’s Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California, having been a member of the Division of Cardiology at SickKids in 2004 to 2019.

Dr. Golding has a strong interest in teaching and education with a focus on image optimization and interpretation. He has been an organizer and invited speaker for pediatric and fetal cardiology meetings in North America and has worked with multiple developing programs in China. Since 2006, he has been to program co-director for the SickKids annual Fetal Outreach meeting, including basic and advanced programs that focus on enhancing prenatal detection of congenital heart disease.

Jane Lougheed  MD,FRCPC

Dr. Jane Lougheed received her medical degree from Queen’s University in 1993. She completed her pediatrics residency at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in 1996 and a subspecialty in pediatric cardiology at CHEO in 1998. Dr. Lougheed also completed a subspecialty residency in pediatric cardiology at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children in 2000. As well as her current positions at CHEO, she is a consulting cardiologist for the Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Neonatology at The Ottawa Hospital. Dr. Lougheed is a member of the Specialty Committee in Cardiology for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She is also the Chair of the Examination Board in Pediatric Cardiology at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Lougheed’s areas of clinical interest include fetal cardiology, neuromuscular disorders and pediatric heart failure.

Tim Van Mieghem, MD, PhD, MPH

Dr. Tim Van Mieghem received his basic obstetrics training and PhD at the University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium. His research and clinical practice concentrate on prenatal diagnosis and fetal therapy. He is an editor for the journals ‘Prenatal Diagnosis.’

Edgar Jaeggi, MD, FRCP (CP)

Dr. Edgar Jaeggi graduated from the Medical School at the University of Basel, Switzerland, in 1984. Following his paediatric residency in Switzerland, Jaeggi trained in paediatric cardiology at the University Children's Hospitals of Zurich and Geneva, Switzerland, the Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Australia, in fetal and interventional cardiology at the Sainte-Justine Hospital in Montreal and electrophysiology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. In 1998, Jaeggi joined the clinical staff at the University Hospital of Geneva where he directed the Pediatric Electrophysiology Service. In September 2002, he returned to Toronto to join the Division of Cardiology and the Translational Medicine program at SickKids. In December 2003, Jaeggi became the head of the Fetal Cardiac Program, one of the largest and most successful fetal cardiac programs world-wide.

Varsha Thakur, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Thakur completed her medical school at the University of Western Ontario. She completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario.  Her pediatric cardiology training was started at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton Alberta and completed at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.  She joined the Hospital for Sick Children as a staff cardiologist in the fetal and pediatric echocardiography lab in 2013. In addition, Dr. Thakur also provides pediatric cardiology services at Trillium Health Partners since 2014 including fetal cardiology and inpatient and outpatient cardiology services.  Fetal Echocardiography, Cardiologist, Part-time Courtesy Staff, Mt. Shi-Joon Yoo, MD, PhD, FRCPC

Dr. Yoo is a cardiac radiologist and leads the Division of Cardiac Imaging. He is a professor of the Departments of Medical Imaging and Paediatrics at the University of Toronto. His main clinical and research activities are MR and CT applications in children with cardiovascular disease and fetal echocardiography. He is an early adopter of 3D printing in pediatric cardiology and surgery. This technique allows preoperative assessment and simulation of the surgical procedures in patients with complex congenital heart disease, morphology teaching and hands-on surgical training.

Kim Haberer, MD, FRCP

Dr Haberer received her medical degree from Dalhousie Medical school in Halifax Nova Scotia. After completing her pediatric residency at the University of Manitoba, she went on to pursue training in pediatric cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr Haberer has completed advanced subspecialty fellowships in fetal and neonatal cardiology as well as pregnancy and heart disease at the University of Alberta and the University of Toronto respectively. Dr Haberer is currently employed as a fetal cardiologist at the hospital for Sick Children, a pediatric cardiologist at Trillium Health Partners, and is continuing her work as a research fellow in the special pregnancy program at Mount Sinai Hospital. Her research interests include maternal-placental-fetal interactions in congenital heart disease and the accuracy of fetal echocardiography and its role in delivery planning.

Mika Saito, MD

Fetal Cardiac Program

Dr. Saito graduated from University of Gunma, Japan in 2003 and trained as a pediatrician from 2003-2007 at Saitama and Tokyo Children’s hospital. While working as a staff pediatrician she started her training in fetal ultrasound and echocardiography in 2008.  Dr. Saito started her formal Paediatric Cardiology Fellowship at Tokyo Metropolitan Children’s Medical Center in 2010. She worked as a cardiologist in intensive care unit for 2 years before moving to be a staff cardiologist in Sakakibara Heart Institute in Tokyo, Japan. She finished her clinical fellowship in fetal cardiac program in 2018, continued her clinical research fellowship. Her research focus is within the field of Perinatology and Fetal Echocardiography

Dr. Hannah Bourne, MD, FRCP
Fetal Echocardiography Fellow

Hannah studies Medicine at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. She also completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in stem cell bioethics at Oxford University. Hannah completed her Pediatric Cardiology training at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Her research interests to date include diastolic dysfunction in Duchenne muscular dystrophy, noninvasive blood pressure monitoring during exercise, and stem cell bioethics. Hannah will complete a year of training in Fetal Cardiology and plans to practice as both a Fetal and General Cardiologist on her return to Melbourne.

Nick Arbic

Paediatric Fetal Cardiac Sonographer III

 

Nick has been a Paediatric Fetal Cardiac Sonographer III at The Hospital for Sick Children since 2007. The complexity of congenital heart disease and the joy of working with children are two of the many reasons he loves his job. He is an avid golfer, a 3 time SickKids employee golf tournament long drive champion and loves being a dad.

Robert Khan

Paediatric Fetal Cardiac Sonographer III

Robert has been a Paediatric Fetal Cardiac Sonographer III at The Hospital for Sick Children since 2008. The complexity of congenital heart disease and the satisfaction of working with children and families are two of the many reasons he loves his job. He is a devoted husband and father and enjoys travelling.
